Dr. Kennon is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management.   After earning her BS degree in Vocational Home Economics and MS in Education from UNT she completed her Ph.D. in Nutrition/Institutional Administration from Texas Woman’s University.   Joining the UNT Hospitality Management program full time in 1990, she has taught courses related to food preparation, food sanitation, and presentation techniques.  Currently she teaches courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level including topics related to Facilities Management, Restaurant Development, Trends and Issues and Introduction to Research.  Her primary focus of research is food safety related to specific consumer groups along with food safety practices in the restaurant industry. 

In summer of 2007, she became the Graduate Coordinator for CMHT.  The College offers the Master of Science degree in three areas: Hospitality Management, International Sustainable Tourism (jointly with CATIE in Costa Rica) and Merchandising.   Additionally, Graduate Academic Certificates are offered in Event Management, Hospitality Management and Merchandising.
